Responsibilities:
  • Uses the Metal Core Arc Welding process to tack weld various small components to round or formed shafts to make a pole assembly for the welder to weld. The pole assembly generally consists of a round tube or formed shaft, baseplate, hand hole, arm mounting simplex, tenon top, vangs, step lugs, ladder clips, and/or other small parts.
  • Works in tower shop on individual fitter station to assemble pole assembly. Assist material handler in loading round tube or formed shaft on individual fitter station.
  • Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly. Locate and gather Storeroom Personnel staged parts needed for assembly from parts staging area. Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Reads and interprets drawing to assure proper location of various small part attachments. Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications.
  • Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
  • Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel. Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts. Wear protective goggles or welding hood to protect eyes from harmful rays.
  • Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts.
  • Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing. Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face.
  • Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures. Changes tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve desired cutting results.
  • Uses oxy-fuel torch to preheat parts prior to welding. Read codes and specifications to determine proper temperature and uses instruments provided to measure temperature.
  • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing.
  • Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, welding cap, leather sleeves, and/or cape, and welding hood for protection against hot metal, arc rays, grinding debris, and other potentially.
  • Uses overhead crane to load finished poles into bolsters for transportation out of the pole assembly area.
  • Assist and instructs other welders and fitters when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity.

Requirements:
  • 6 months of GMAW welding experience required.
  • Previous experience using a plasma cutter, torch, large industrial forklift and overhead crane.
  • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.
  • Proficiency in reading complex prints and specifications.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Must know how to properly use a weld gauge.
  • Read and write English.
  • Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift. Lifting, pushing, prying, and dragging heavy materials.
  • Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over and occasional climbing.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Abnormal level of noise due to grinding, chipping, hammering requires hearing protection (ear plugs) be worn at all times.
  • Must possess adequate dexterity and stamina to sustain expected production effectively.
Educational Requirements:
  • High School Diploma Preferred

Quality Control Supervisor

Hicksville, OH

Responsibilities:
  • Qualified individual will have the responsibility for the daily operation of the Quality Control Department.
    They are responsible for assigning all work activities to personnel assigned to the department.
    This professional is responsible to resolve quality issues as they arise between departments.
    They will coordinate inspections with third party inspectors and assist in the creation and maintenance of quality procedures.
    Works with Project Managers on arranging crews for field repairs
    Writes Non-Conformances for shop related quality issues

Requirements:
  • • Proven working knowledge of the American Welding Society AWS D1.1.
    • Structural Welding Code – Steel. Minimum 3 years quality control / quality assurance experience related to welding and dimensional inspections.
    • Prefer to be Certifiable to Level II Ultrasonic and Magnetic Particle Inspection methods (SNT-TC-1A)


    • Must be able to perform work functions while standing for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to lift, push pry and drag heavy materials up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to reach, grasp, bend, stoop, crawl under or climb over to inspect product.
    • Position is in a manufacturing environment. Environment could be noisy, dusty and will vary in temperature. Proper protective equipment will be required.
    • Employee will be need to be able to pass the Jaeger 2 test and distinguish between red and yellow.

Educational Requirements:
  • • Current AWS Certified Weld Inspector - (CWI).
    • Must be competent in the following welding and cutting processes; SAW, MCAW, FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, PLASMA, CARBON ARC and OXY-ACETYLENE.

    Paint & Blast

    Alvarado, TX

    Responsibilities:
    • Runs, maneuvers, navigates or drives heavy equipment or mechanized equipment in paint booth area, such as forklifts, cranes/overhead cranes, liquid coating equipment, trucks, etc.
      Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from paint booth, blast or production areas by hand or using trucks, forklifts, or other equipment.
      Follow blue prints for the coating dimensions and measurements accurately on a regular basis.
      Efficiently use computer systems and software to collect labor hours and track process information on each job.
      Ensure all painted products meet Sabre quality requirements, minimize downtime, and promote efficiency and uptime. Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
      Identify material by job number, piece mark, labels and/or other applicable indicators.
      Sort products to be painted according to finish required and size of parts in order to get efficient use of equipment.
      Knowledge of hand tools, grinders and proper PPE during use.
      Monitor levels of blasting media and add material as needed.
      Wrap finish painted poles before and/or after product has dried.
      Maintain compliance with regulations and policies regarding safe storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
      Ensure all daily production logs are filled out properly.
      Ensure machinery, tools and equipment are in good working order and follow quality guidelines.
      Inspect all lifting equipment prior to use (forklifts, cranes, chains, slings, etc) to ensure safety.
      Communicate any unusual operating conditions or issues to appropriate personnel.
      Must use good judgment, follow instructions and have good problem solving abilities.
      Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task.
      Actively seek and support continuous improvement activities in process efficiencies, costs and effectiveness of work.

    Requirements:

      • Must be able to obtain SG Crane/Forklift Certification.

      • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, prying, dragging materials, twisting and handling of materials.

    Director of Quality

    Responsibilities:
    • Develops and maintains systems to establish standards related to Quality Control activities and products, and measures performance against established standards.
    • Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products.
    • Analyzes and writes test procedures; maintains documentation of results; and ensures that the QC Manager/Department consults with Department Heads and other personnel in resolution of problems.
    • Directs employees engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.

    • Must possess exceptional leadership, communication, written and verbal presentation, and team-building skills. At least 5 to 8 years of people management experience including strong competencies in talent identification and development, coaching and mentoring is required. Must be familiar with a wide range of equipment and tools used in steel manufacturing, and have the ability to read and understand drawings, work orders, safety rules, and various manuals.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with ERP/MRP manufacturing software.
    Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor's or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified as a Certified Quality Engineer.
    • Must meet the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A for Level II Certification in the ultrasonic and magnetic particle inspection methods, and be familiar with non-destructive testing methods.
    • Must be certified, or previously certified, as an AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI).

      Forklift - Warehouse

      Responsibilities:
      • Unloads inbound shipments and moves product to storage locations.
      • Efficiently stocks and stores materials in appropriate areas.
      • Pulls and prepares product for production and shipment.

      Requirements:
      • 1 to 3 years of recent warehouse and forklift operating experience.
      • Effective and efficient English communication skills required to communicate efficiently within all levels of a team environment via two-way radio, email and in person.
      • Must possess the ability to comply with safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Candidates must also contribute to safety and quality control standards.
      • Must be able to drive and operate a forklift and pass the Sabre forklift certification, including the vision requirements: Distant Vision: must be 20/40 or greater corrected or uncorrected in each eye. Near Vision: must be J2 or better corrected or uncorrected, 12 inches from face in each eye. Depth Perception: must be at less than 50 seconds of arc or greater than 60% Shepard Fry in each eye.
      • Position requires work in a plant/manufacturing environment. Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe metatarsal boots and hearing protection worn at all time on the production floor in addition to other specific PPE that must be work for specific tasks.
      • Environment may include fluctuations in temperature, dust and noise.
      • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including heat and cold. Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to reach, climb in/out of forklift, bend, stoop, sit, stand and grasp.
      Educational Requirements:
      • High school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience

      Materials Flow Coordinator

      Alvarado, TX

      Responsibilities:
      • Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities, and compiles and maintains manual or computerized records: Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
      • Receives material and follows up with purchasing and/or external vendors on requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
      • Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
      • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.

      Accounting Specialist

      Responsibilities:
      • Analyzes all incoming invoices, and tracks monthly invoice amounts.

        • Compile blueprints to with needed pages and discard those not needed for programming
          Validate blueprints are accurate and inform drafting of any discrepancies

          Material Handler - Shipping Yard

          Sioux City, IA

          Responsibilities:
          • Moves and stacks materials.
          • Performs receiving and pre-ship functions of all types of material. This would include duties such as verifying that all correct part numbers and quantities match the bundling sheets or BOLs.
          • Interacts with drivers picking up or delivering product ensuring the proper product is loaded and or received and paperwork is completed with proper documentation and signatures.
          • Operates material handling equipment to include but not limited to nail gun, banding equipment, radial arm saw, chop saw, chain saws along with other small hand tools.
          • Ensures quality of shipped items by verifying and identifying information and quality/condition of items as well as taking steps necessary to protect items from damage while they are being loaded and transported to vendors and customers.
          • Ensures that the material being received and shipped conforms to Sabre's or customer's requirements.

          Responsibilities:
          • Assists machine operators, welders, and other personnel in loading/unloading, transporting raw, in-process, and finished materials throughout the facility.

          • Manually positions pole assembly in pole rollers into proper position for welding.

          • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses tables to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
