Quality Control Tech

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Develops an understanding of the Company's quality control program, standards, procedures, and codes.
  • Conducts in process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections of manufactured steel products in accordance with AWS D1.1
  • Verifies and maintains inspection and test status of product during all stages of manufacturing, including receiving, in-process, final, and shipping.
  • Verifies rework and repair of nonconforming products.
  • Initiates requests for corrective action on observed conditions which do not conform to quality system requirements.
  • Attends daily start-up meetings to review production schedule and receive daily job assignments.
  • Prepares and reviews Quality records appropriate to inspection and test activities to assure legibility, completeness, and correctness of the information.
  • Uses various dimensioning tools such as tape measures, combination squares, levels, etc. when conducting dimensional inspections.
  • Visually inspects all manufactured parts (or a representative number) to ensure they are manufactured per the drawings/specifications.
  • Inspects pole sections that have been painted or galvanized.
  • Assists in maintaining work performance records, inspection records and other related documents ensuring correctness of all documents.
  • Ensures that customer requirements are determined and met, with the aim of enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Cross trains in other areas of the Quality Department and assists other areas as needed.
  • Performs work in indoor or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in area of operation.
  • Contributes to team effort by communicating effectively and working with all levels of personnel within the Company, as well as accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Recent experience working with Quality Control in a welding/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold.
  • This position works a majority of the time in a loud and dusty environment.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships with co-workers and other internal customers.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced team environment.
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and quality manuals, blueprints, and design drawings along with proficiency to use and understand measuring and testing equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to input and retrieve information form PC based information systems.
  • Ability to use various dimensional inspection tools such as tape measures, 6' inch rules, combination squares, levels, etc.
  • Ability to perform work functions while standing for long period of time.
  • Ability to climb and bend over in order to perform inspections.
  • Ability to accurately verify all parts to print using measuring devices such as a tape measure, combination squares, levels, etc.
  • Must be able to meet the AWS D1.1 requirements of a visual weld inspector.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience.


Pre-Engineering Technician I

Responsibilities:
  • Applies engineering principles to the design of structures and their components or assemblies
  • Review and design all monopoles, guyed structures, self-supports, concealment and pipe pole structures for quoting purposes
  • Prepares creative designs or related drawings or details; uses designs to develop specifications or estimates of materials needed for a project
  • Provides guidance to Estimation, Sales, Drafting, Contracts, Catalog and Engineering departments
  • Review and evaluate customer request
  • Aid assigned Regional Sales Manager in review and evaluation of customer requirements
  • Compile project costs by analyzing project details using company computer hardware and software
  • Assure accurate estimates by gathering specifications, drawings and related documents for complete project information
  • Present prepared estimates to the Regional Sales Manager
  • Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information in order to detect problems with costing methods, assumptions and procedures
  • Analyze output and modify input as necessary on special designs
  • Preliminary foundations for all structures (normal soils)
  • Secure pricing for concealment products
  • Finalize the design of all wireless structures ordered and prepare the initial engineering document package for Permits
  • Create the Drafting Document for all new structures outlining all purchased and included mounts and other items for Drafting
  • Provide support to contracts for technical questions, order design changes, and change order pricing
  • Preform any additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

Requirements:
  • 3 years of experience in related position or equivalent
  • High attention to detail/highly organized
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to operate general office equipment
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to analyze technical information

Educational Requirements:

  • 2 years post high school

Shift:

  • Day Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, OT as needed


Estimator I

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Assure accurate estimates by gathering specifications, drawings and related documents for complete project information
  • Compile project costs by analyzing project details using company computer hardware and software
  • Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information in order to detect problems with costing methods, assumptions and procedures
  • Present prepared estimates to the Regional Sales Manager by assembling and organizing numerical and descriptive cost information in a format approved by the company
  • Aids assigned Regional Sales Manager by facilitating customer requests and addressing questions or concerns via customer phone call, email or facsimile
  • Contributes to the team effort by effectively communicating and working well with members of the Estimation group as well as other departments and personnel to accomplish assigned tasks and projects as needed
  • Assists in carrying out other departmental duties as needed

Requirements:
  • 2 years recent experience in construction, engineering or customer service preferred
  • Ability/familiarity with construction drawing and/or blue prints desired
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills required
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Ability to run general office equipment is required
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills required

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in related area

Shift:

  • Day Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, OT, weekends as needed
