- Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications.
- Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Using table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
- Using plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel.
- Moving around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts.
- Using motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawings.
- Finish welding various products of the unit to keep the product moving through the large pole department in a timely manner. Reads and interprets weld symbols.
- Welding of other products in other areas, using either Flux-Cored Arc Welding or Gas Metal Arc Welding process.
